Bristle-one of the short, stiff, coarse hairs of certain animals, esp. hogs, used extensively in making brushes. The hair on the back of Henry's neck began to bristle. My neck hair stood up.

Bearings- “Without ball bearings, Messerschmitt’s can’t fly, Rommel’s tanks can’t roll.” Machinery . the support and guide for a rotating, oscillating, or sliding shaft, pivot, or wheel. “Without ball machinery, Messerschmitt’s can’t fly, Rommel’s tanks can’t roll.”
Flak- “Flak came in bursts of four.” Antiaircraft fire. “Antiaircraft fire came in bursts of four.”

Snowdrift- “A snowdrift swallowed him.” a mound or bank of snow driven together by the wind. “A mound of snow swallowed him.”
